The highlight of my day today is the meet-up with fizzywoohoo, a friend who I’ve met just once–yet corresponded and bonded over a thousand times over in cyberspace.

Fizz is one of those people who has the power to endear herself to you even minus physical bonding. Our common denominator then was her friend from way-back (and my old office mate), G and our mutual obsession with Brandon Boyd and Incubus. The fact that Fizz is witty and she thinks a lot like me made her one cool girl. Until recently, we bonded over Brandon, that is until the girl discovered the magic of Asian dramas (koreanovelas and J-Dramas, in particular) especially our love for the Hana Yori Dango franchise. The fact that I love HYD (and all its reincarnations) came handy as we bonded over things HYD–and when I did introduce her to Jun Matsumoto, my boyfriend from the alternate universe, we clicked like that *snaps fingers* even more.

I am someone who doesn’t use the word “friend” lightly. I am always mistaken for aloof and snob because I really don’t talk much, unless I know the person. I don’t have time for useless chikka, and I have trust issues. The things I like are not really the typical things a 30-year old usually like: I am obsessed with anything Japanese, I go fangirling, I like Japanese idols and I prefer rock music than the toothache inducing bossa nova.

But talking to Fizz was like talking to someone whom you grew up with, and started liking boys and stuff at the same time. Maybe that is the magic of friendship, for you to discover yourself from other people–without having to rely on the tangible and measurable things that often defines friendships and relationships.

For my birthday, Fizz gave me this:

a case when the wrapping is as precious as the gift

yey!

I didn’t have a picture with Fizz cos my camera decided to act up while we were at Starbucks. But here’s the message written on the gift card:

And since I don’t wanna mess up the wrapper, it took me quite a long time to unwrap my gift.

it's a JOURNAL!

How’d she knew about my addiction to paper? :-)

Yeah, the Universe relishes on throwing you curve balls, but sometimes he gets it right and he tosses in your direction a new friend.

Thanks Fizzywoohoo! Let’s talk more on our plan to stalk Incubus when they next visit Manila. And oh, I’d take care of Jun-kun for you :-)
